This young boy from the Maldives will soon become a true climber of coconut palms, a “rauveri”. The colours of the Indian Ocean are reflected in the eyes of the islanders: fluid eyes which brim with the ancient memories of a long-ago adventure. Eyes inhabited by the waves of centuries, lit up by three cultures. Coming from the Indian Ocean means belonging without distinction to Africa, to Asia and to Europe. In an unknown land in the Indian Ocean, way back in time, one of the planet Earth’s most important plants came into being: the coconut palm.
